History of ARDA

December 1991

A proposal to set up a language school was sent to the Investment Committee.

June 1992

Permission was given to start the school and the ARDA Language Centre was set up in Anou Village in the Vientiane Capital

1994-August 1996

School was closed because the director went home to Australia

August 1996

A team from Singapore came to restart the school in Khountatong Village, Sikottabong District, Vientiane Capital. The school was officially reopened in September. We had children’s and teenagers’ classes when we started, but decided to stop them to focus on adults 16 years and over. We started with a three-term per year system, and a summer term during the summer break.

September 2004

A branch was set up in Luang Phabang Province

September 2005

HOPE centre was set up as a drop-in centre for street kids and children from poor homes, where they are given lunch and Lao and English lessons and taught skills like cooking and computer.

2006

Skills Vocational Centre was set up in Wattay Noi Village to teach girls housekeeping and boys electrical and building skills and how to set up a small business.

January 2007

Classes were changed to a two semester system.

March 2007

A branch was set up in Pakse, Champasak Province.

August 2012

Started teaching kids between the age of 9-13 in ARDA, Pakse

January 2017

A branch was set up in Savannakhet City, Savannakhet Province.
